THE GREATER WASHINGTON CHAPTER 353, MOPH

On behalf of the members of Greater Washington Chapter 353, I welcome you to this special observance of the Purple Heart Day. It is important that we, veterans and citizens of this wonderful country, the United States of America, keep the memories of significant historical events alive in our hearts. Our commemoration of the establishment of the Badge of Military Merit (predecessor of the Purple Heart) by General George Washington on August 7, 1782, will help perpetuate and promote the ideals of Americanism we hold so dear.
